1. Please be reminded that students are not permitted to gather or hold study groups on the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors of the building.

2. An Announcement from Dean Lataif:

Dear Undergraduate Students,
I invite all eligible freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to consider applying to become a Dean’s Host.  The Dean’s Hosts are a group of 30 highly-motivated School of Management undergraduates who serve as “the face of the School” for visitors to SMG.   They are an essential component of the School’s culture and have helped raise SMG’s profile to hundreds of VIPs, business professionals, and families who visit here.
Please click here for the application form, which you can print out and complete.  Or copies are also available in the UPO or in the Dean’s Office, 5th floor. The completed form, along with a copy of your most recent resume, is due Friday, December 4.   There is a minimum 2.7 GPA requirement for serving as a Dean’s Host.  Applicants will be interviewed and a final selection will be made in January.
My assistant, Mrs. Judith Dupee, who coordinates the Dean’s Hosts, would be pleased to answer any questions you may have (617 353-4076; jdupee@bu.edu).
I hope you’ll consider joining the Dean’s Hosts and working with me over the next year while enjoying the honor of representing Boston University School of Management.

Lou Lataif
Dean

Boston University’s Sustainability Director and co-chair of the Sustainability Committee at the Urban Land Institute - Boston, Dennis Carlberg, will provide an introduction to the LEED rating system and discuss its impact on Boston and BU. BU Facilities Project Manager Shaun Finn will then lead a brief tour of the Makechnie Study Center (“MSC”), a 3,000 square foot interior space at Sargent College that achieved LEED SILVER rating. The MSC is the first LEED certified interior on Charles River Campus. Sponsored by: BU Real Estate Club and BU Energy Club Speaker: Dennis Carlberg, BU Sustainability Director Dennis Carlberg is an architect with over 25 years of experience. In January 2009 Dennis joined Boston University as its first Sustainability Director. He comes from a Boston area architectural firm where he was a partner, senior designer and chaired the sustainability committee, which he established in 2000. Dennis began his career at the Solar Energy Research Institute conducting daylighting research to reduce building energy consumption and improve the indoor environment. Dennis also co-chairs the Sustainability Committee at the Urban Land Institute – Boston, a committee dedicated to explore policies and solutions to address global climate change which are both feasible and effective at the nexus of energy, land use, infrastructure and real estate. Dennis received his Master of Architecture degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he was awarded the AIA Gold Medal. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Carlberg is accredited by the US Green Building Council as a LEED accredited professional.
